A data center is a pool of resources like storage, computational, and network that are interconnected using a communication network. A Data Center Network (DCN) holds a critical role in a data center, as it interconnects all of the resources in the data center together. DCNs need to be scalable and efficient in order to connect tens or even hundreds of thousands of servers to handle the growing demands of cloud computing.
