What is Data Throughput?

Simply put, “data throughput” is the amount of data that can be transferred from a source to another location in a given period of time. It is the unit of measure used for the performance of RAM, hard drives, and internet/network connections. Throughput measures the rate of successful data transfers in a time frame. Throughput is not to be confused with “bandwidth,” which is the maximum amount of data that can be transferred on a network.
