a. Business Challenges

This client had a limited staff and saw the need to have third-party specialists manage their critical infrastructure in downtown Chicago. Storcom has provided ongoing managed services of their entire application stack, from hardware to hypervisor through Windows/Linux operating systems. Additionally, this organization leveraged Storcom’s DR/BC Tier 3 facility in the Western suburbs of Chicago, Illinois.
The next phase to this project came about when downtime became unavoidable due to outages because of the office environment that the data center was in. It was clear that the company needed to move operations to a T3 data center that provided 99.999% of availability.

b. Storcom’s Solution

Storcom architected an entirely new solution with dedicated hardware in our data center in order to act as this client’s private cloud. Due to their HIPAA regulations, they needed their own dedicated infrastructure. We are now in the process of completing this migration from production located in downtown Chicago to our T3 data center in the Chicago suburbs. Their disaster recovery site has also been moved to their old data center facility in downtown Chicago.

c. Results

Storcom’s solution provided added uptime, reliability, and the flexibility to leverage the Storcom-shared infrastructure when necessary for projects that they do not have the infrastructure on-hand complete. Storcom also has a flexible model to add on-demand compute and storage resources on the fly, like any big public cloud provider, at a lower cost.
